speaking of nicki

billboard did an interview with nicki minaj asking her about her 10 most outrageous outfits. i hardly think these are her absolute most outrageous, but i really love to hear people talk about their most sentimental looks and the stories behind them!

dakota

speaking of icons, i must say i am completely taken with dakota fanning. she and her sister, elle, are such natural actors it's a joy to watch them on screen.

i will be the first to admit that i HATED dakota when she was young because she was just in every single movie ever and making more money than julia roberts (who i also hate). but it just seems that youth is taking over the world (tavi? a style icon and taste maker at 13. willow smith? her first hit single at 9) so i've resigned myself to find the joy in young people expressing themselves, rather than be bitter at my own lack of success comparatively.

that being said, dakota is a star, a remarkable dresser, and an undeniable talent. i really look forward to seeing where her career goes in the future. not to mention the girl is damn photogenic!

baby jane

it seems like people have been all about edie for years and completely overlook baby jane. but honestly, i think baby jane is a little bit more lively and fun as an icon. maybe it's just because i'm a sucker for that valley of the dolls hair...

not sure where these photos are from. they've been on my computer forever, so i lost track.

new style icon?

let me preface this by saying how much i love dakota fanning now that she's not a child actor. when she was like six and in every single movie and making more than cameron diaz, i was a little bit annoyed. but i am actually just realizing that it's because she is so naturally gifted, seriously.

not long ago i saw her younger sister, elle (now 12years), in phoebe in wonderland, where she played a young girl with tourettes. then only ten, i could not even believe how amazing elle fanning was in the role. it was actually scary how good she was. so is it really so surprising that she would have an amazing sense of style? she clearly has a strong sense of self for someone so young.

kelis!

here is my beloved kelis at a show in london. how crazy is that head piece? i love how off the wall pop stars have gotten. it just makes pop music so much more fun for me!

ke$ha always

i find myself inspired by ke$ha more often than i would like to admit. for one, boots & boys might as well be my anthem... and i have a ridiculous urge to wear crazy eye makeup when wearing cutoffs.

also, i have to say i LOVE her new video. it's totally charming! my sister thinks ke$ha might be slightly autistic because of how she looks when she performs, which i kind of understand. but drunk girls need a style icon too! and come on, the girl legitimately does not give a shit, which makes everything she does so much fun!

she is definitely an icon

okay, so it's no secret that right now i am OBSESSED with kelis. i think she is grossly underrated, and definitely an icon. check her out in this video from mtv where she's completely blasé about how awesome she is.

i love how she says that she dresses "honestly," because i feel like anyone who takes their personal style seriously feels the same way.

always the image of perfection! the cast of The City makes the cast of The Hills look like a bunch of style-starved deadbeats.

i hear she's a bitch...

but who cares? she always looks so damn good.

a girl im doing a project with got a chance to go to a harry potter premiere and met all of the stars and said emma watson was a HUGE biotch. my response to this was "well yea, i would be a bitch too if i had that much cash."

she totally is putting her bitch face forward in this shot

MY FAVORITE: La Roux

check out this excellent interview with Elly Jackson from style.com. she's incredibly eloquent and it's hard to imagine she's not even a year older than me...

she talks about androgyny and seeing her hairstyle copied by mannequins in the window at topshop.

i couldn't get it embedded but you can watch it here!!

i love bangs! they are definitely cute, and whenever i get about 75% of the way through growing them out, i always want to cut them back. i'm seriously considering it, and here are some of my favorite girls with bangs:

happy wigilia!

to all you poles out there, happy wigilia. have fun not eating meat tonight, because i know i certainly will.

to the rest of you, sorry i've been gone for so long!! everything with school is finally relatively settled, and it's the first time in weeks i've had the time and energy to really leave a post.

my latest fashion icon is IRIS APFEL. termed the geriatric glamazon, she gives me hope that growing old can be really awesome. she has the best, most eclectic accessories... including an equally eccentric husband.

I LOVE IT.

i miss the osbournes

i have always been a kelly osbourne fan. i don't think most people recognize just how much kelly's style has matured. so on that note, i wanted a post focusing on some of kelly's finest moments!
