i really don't talk about myself here like... at all. but every now and then i do like to brag about my boyfriend a little bit. i just wanted to post the sweet poster for their show in philly this weekend!

rough buff

i just got back from a lovely, albeit short, visit to my native country of buffalo. i had a wonderful time with my family, celebrating dad's 60th birthday!! i also was lucky enough to get this sick new pair of shoes at shoefly on elmwood.

sadly, my boyfriend did not get any new shoes, because the poor thing has really expensive taste, and we are both so broke.

the juice is on fire

as of about five minutes ago, i am on my way to being a contributing writer for spill the juicy magazine! it's an online publication focused on fashion, music, art, celebrities and is based out of pittsburgh, chicago and new york.

new hat!

so i have a really terrible phone camera and nothing else, but i had to post a photo of my new hat. i got it at a very wonderful vintage shop, yesterdays news, on the southside! pay no attention to my goofy smile...

small finds

yesterday my boyfriend and i had a nice morning walk and stopped in at caliban books on craig st. at the counter they have a box of old postcards. i got really interested in old postcards when i was in barcalona. before then i had never seen them sold anywhere. initially it seemed sort of weird to me to buy someone's old mail, but just like anything old/vintage/used, these postcards really have a lot of history.

what makes something iconic?

i bought a new journal yesterday! my old journal had this iconic hopper painting which i am sure you are all familiar with.

it's not quite finished, but i've never been able to bring myself to write to the very end of a journal. something about it seems so... final?

SO my new journal has a little bit of infamous british propaganda on it (not to mention a motivating mantra). i found this cool photo of the poster in a window!

i was recently lucky enough to have an opportunity to style my favorite model of all, and dearest friend, miss bailey warren! i used her own clothes to create a fun look for a birthday party/fashion show?/clusterfuck, and i must say, i really love it.

detox update

so, my detox finally officially started yesterday. i'd say so far the hardest part is feeling satisfied. i actually made a really delicious stir fry last night for dinner, but obviously it didn't have any meat or cheese so... i had really terrible meat/cheese cravings.

i bought a ton of the cheapest veggies i could find so i ended up buying a shit ton of green beans because they looked so cute and were dirt cheap. unfortunately, i ended up eating around them in my stir fry...

so far, it's been a struggle and i feel a little bit like i am in voluntary jail. here's to hoping it gets easier!

detox!

starting my detox week tomorrow. i put it off for too long and i have been taking really terrible care of myself, so i really have no other choice but to do it asap!

things i will be cutting out for the next week:
-milk
-probably all meat
-eggs
-butter
-bread
-snacks
-booze
-salt
-processed foods, salad dressing
-pop

should be...about as much fun as hanging out with gwyneth paltrow

FINALS!

it's coming up on finals time for me, so my posts will be somewhat sporadic (you know i have never spelled that word in my life, it looks kind of funny actually)

but yes, i will be back in full swing as soon as i get all of my things taken care of! papers, exams, etc.

so it's not the BIGGEST deal in the world, but i did do an interview that appears in the latest issue of Maniac Magazine, meaning i am about to be published for the first time!!
