new years sweater!

bought the best sweater yesterday to complete my new years outfit! it's cher horowitz meets rihanna and i have to say im really really excited to wear it! go to motel for party outfit needs, there's a TON of product on this site. i will say that i absolutely hate how they styled the sweater in this shot though. god awful.

rough buff

i just got back from a lovely, albeit short, visit to my native country of buffalo. i had a wonderful time with my family, celebrating dad's 60th birthday!! i also was lucky enough to get this sick new pair of shoes at shoefly on elmwood.

sadly, my boyfriend did not get any new shoes, because the poor thing has really expensive taste, and we are both so broke.

everyone pretty much likes j crew. it's a store that has a lot of quality clothes and they always last and look very nice. but when i saw their fall 2010 lookbook, i died a little on the inside. it's so unbearably amazing! "edie beale meets the girl scouts" is how the creative director explains their inspiration for the season. well, i love it.

i had a terrible accident involving my favorite bottle of pink nail polish, broken glass, and my thumb, after which i swore off pink for a little while out of spite.

but now, after months and months, i found myself missing it very much, UNTIL i found the most unreal shade of pink!

i now work for american eagle in their visual lab store, and yesterday i spent the afternoon working in the aerie lab. there, i saw a shade of pink made by essie exclusively for aerie, called aerie flirt. i couldn't find a photo of it anywhere online, but trust me, it is BRIGHT.

essie made a few other exclusive colors for aerie, but this one is really special. sorry i don't have a photo, but you can check it out for yourself at any aerie store. if you're craving a bright nail color for summer, this will definitely do the trick.

shopping trip!

i'm visiting my family in buffalo, and one of my favorite things to do with my mom is go shopping. i mean shopping is my favorite anyway, but it's especially fun with my mom.

the GREAT purchase yesterday was these incredible ankle boots! so incredible, i'm in love.

ode to flea markets

this was originally part of my last post, but then i realized it deserved to stand on its own. i think my deep affection for junk shops, flea markets and second hand things in general is what eventually lead to my love of fashion. i've always been interested in clothes, and i most definitely have always loved shoes, but it wasn't until probably about a year go that i realized i was falling for fashion.

I grew up down the street from one of the largest, most famous antique fairs in the country. antique world, as it is called, goes on every sunday in the summer, weather depending. by late high school, i was going there every weekend. i became a junk shop junkie. Some of my best jewelry i bought there for only $1. i began to realize there was a certain look i was always drawn to, and i became more and more discerning about what i wanted to even a solitary dollar bill on.

one day, it just clicked. fashion is about loving what you wear, and making a conscious effort to wear things a certain way. i had been doing it all along! it was only a matter of time before i put two and two together and discovered my sartorial voice.

here are some photos i took probably about four years ago at antique world. im not exactly a photographer, but i think these convey the bizarre, free-spirited nature of one of my favorite shopping destinations.

for me, buying shoes is contagious. once i buy one pair, i get the urge to buy many, many more. right now i am currently in the market to find a reasonably priced clogs. not like nurses/grandma type clogs. these are definitely 90s, but with a bit of a sexy, modern twist. and i'm just trying to wear them before they show up everywhere and get tired.

i did a bit of shopping today, and i have to say it definitely helped get me out of the gloomy mood i've been in lately.




i am so excited for spring so i can reinvent my style! it's hard to do that when it's 30 degrees out.

check out this beautiful suede bag i got at the GAP!! i saw it online and figured my store wouldn't get it, but when i went in the other day to adjust my schedule i SAW IT and it was even more amazing in person. accessory love is almost as good as actual real love!
