i love this shot. it's weird to think this picture is as old as i am, because it still is completely relevent. especially with the big menswear-inspired trend. i have a feeling my boyfriend would love to own that jacket as much as i would!

summer perfection

pastels are currently a summer favorite of mine. by the end of winter, i had gotten so sick of black. so i've really been enjoying colors.

so naturally, these shots of swing dancers at a 20s theme party really caught my eye. also, a little known fact about me is that i listened only to swing music for about a year when i was in third grade. the hat, lipstick, and dance partner top off this look to perfection!

ode to flea markets

this was originally part of my last post, but then i realized it deserved to stand on its own. i think my deep affection for junk shops, flea markets and second hand things in general is what eventually lead to my love of fashion. i've always been interested in clothes, and i most definitely have always loved shoes, but it wasn't until probably about a year go that i realized i was falling for fashion.

I grew up down the street from one of the largest, most famous antique fairs in the country. antique world, as it is called, goes on every sunday in the summer, weather depending. by late high school, i was going there every weekend. i became a junk shop junkie. Some of my best jewelry i bought there for only $1. i began to realize there was a certain look i was always drawn to, and i became more and more discerning about what i wanted to even a solitary dollar bill on.

one day, it just clicked. fashion is about loving what you wear, and making a conscious effort to wear things a certain way. i had been doing it all along! it was only a matter of time before i put two and two together and discovered my sartorial voice.

here are some photos i took probably about four years ago at antique world. im not exactly a photographer, but i think these convey the bizarre, free-spirited nature of one of my favorite shopping destinations.

i bought a pair of kate spade sandals at a second hand store. They are amazing! But I have really wide feet and they are too narrow. I am selling them up on ebay, but if you are seriously interested and want to negotiate before they sell, feel free to email me about them.



the photo is terrible because i took it on my blackberry, but they have an adorable bow detail on the strap. the wedges appear to be wicker, and are orange. they are in good condition:
-spanish leather sole slightly worn
-kate spade new york still clearly visible on sole
-satin upper still in great condition


it kills me to sell them, but i hope someone else can enjoy them!

family history

the vintage photo contest on the sartorialist has inspired me to post some awesome photos of my paternal grandmother. i had these on my computer from a presentation i did last spring.
