animal!

it's no secret that i personally am not a huge fan of wearing animal prints (or prints in general for that matter), BUT these shoes are just the right amount of leopard print! plus, the sparkles make them EXTRA fun. yea this is not a game, this is true love.

romantic

i adore this look! i adore neutrals, and the splash of red is so refreshing. a smile is a great accessory too. in so many street fashion photos people think they are just too cool to smile. that is just untrue!

boho

one thing i am really loving lately is the looks inspired by a sort of 70s resurgence. this continues to surprise me because i don't really have a very boho aesthetic normally, but lately i can't help but love it. maybe it's the hats...

neon

i've been noticing a really inspiring new trend in editorial that seems to be an amalgamation of this ethereal inspiration and a very modern aesthetic. and i must say it is absolutely inspiring. maybe it's just samuel françois genius styling?

check out this unreal shoot starring ming xi, clearly inspired by a sort of chinese cinematic aesthetic. photo by sofia sanchez and mauro mongiello, and styled by samuel françois. i love the chinese cinema inspired aesthetic!

and this series of my beloved stam shot by sølve sundsbø, and also styled by samuel françois.

tribal

i really love the tribal/nomadic thing lately. i think it's a look that can create a great amount of depth when photographed, and has gotta be unbelievably fun to style! check out some great editorial nomdic looks on some of my favorite models!

white hair?

extreme hair color has always appealed to me, without a doubt. pink and white are the hair colors that im actually drawn to the most, but i have always been to scared to take the leap myself. i love how effortlessly this girl pulls of white hair, that took some serious balls, and it looks so beautiful!

quite studly

it took me a while to come around to the whole studded trend (it was faarrrr to reminiscent of middle school for me at first). but now that ive been seeing more and more studs used in a delicate fashion, i think they can be quite enchanting. like these two lovely shoes!

chic, funky

this girl might have stolen my brain, because i am obsessed with this outfit. a little bit tribal, totally chic, with a wild necklace? yes please!

break the rules

most people will flat out tell you that blue eyeshadow is a bad idea. since one of my simple pleasures is regularly breaking fashion and beauty rules, i was thrilled to see blue eye makeup as a trend on the rise.
style.com

i originally headed over to mark. to pick up their smooch-proof lipstain that i read about on stylecaster. while i was there i also bought color cream in cabana. it seems to be the perfect shade! i'm even toying with the idea of wearing the two together for one super glam evening, a la christian dior spring 2010. plus a shot of the lovely chanel iman to prove it's not just for those fair blonde girls.

denim on denim!

i'm not exactly the biggest fan of the denim on denim trend. where i come from, we call that a canadian tuxedo. BUT in this photo taken by the sartorialist in barcalona, denim on denim has never looked more chic!

summer perfection

pastels are currently a summer favorite of mine. by the end of winter, i had gotten so sick of black. so i've really been enjoying colors.

so naturally, these shots of swing dancers at a 20s theme party really caught my eye. also, a little known fact about me is that i listened only to swing music for about a year when i was in third grade. the hat, lipstick, and dance partner top off this look to perfection!

jonesin' for

for me, buying shoes is contagious. once i buy one pair, i get the urge to buy many, many more. right now i am currently in the market to find a reasonably priced clogs. not like nurses/grandma type clogs. these are definitely 90s, but with a bit of a sexy, modern twist. and i'm just trying to wear them before they show up everywhere and get tired.

this pair is from chanel's rtw spring 2010 collection!

braid mania

one of my standby hairstyles now that my hair is long is any form of the braid. this hairstyle is totally easy, it's really the only thing my hair will cooperate with. so obviously i was thrilled to read in the most recent copy of vogue that the trend continues to go strong.

beautiful stuff

one of the biggest trends in beauty this year, thanks to chanel's fall 09 runway show was the much sought after shade of JADE.
trendy jade nail polish chanel @ small treasures

according to style.com bottles of this stuff are going on ebay for like $100.

now obviously i coveted this nail color myself, but had resolved to wait (probably about a year, if not longer) for the color to show up in drug store cheap-o brands.

BUT! american apparel came to my rescue. i didn't even know they made nail polish, but i picked up their lacquer for $6! the shade is called OFFICE. excellent.

the ugly that was 2009

let's be honest, there was a lot of ugly in 2009. maybe there is a lot of ugly every year, but i hope a lot of 09 trends go away and never come back. ON THAT NOTE, i wanted to applaud my LEAST favorite looks of the year. i think most of them speak for themselves...
