girly trench!
this look is absolute perfection! i have been dying for a trench coat, but have yet to find one that is both feminine and short enough for my tiny frame. i think i've found it! literally, this is my dream trench coat. and these shoes kick ass too.

i wish all fashion had this level of whimsy. imagine how different the world would look if everyone dressed like this!

whitney
i am a slight whitney port fan. she is remarkably well dressed at all times, and always has a sweet vibe which i really like. needless to say, both of those things are conveyed in her line, whitney eve. i am in love with all of the orange!!!

lots to lust over
now that i finally have a minute to start looking through the looks from ny fashion week, so far i am loving peter som the most. a lot of the other collections have been really big on whites and soft neutrals, which is great, but i lose interest after a while if there's no color involved. those charlotte olympia shoes are UNREAL! i kind of have a ton of favorites...

Local Designer in ELLE!
i posted this to the maniac magazine blog, but it's so exciting i wanted to repost it here!

local designer, Katie Gallagher, who now lives in new york, was featured in the march issue of ELLE magazine.

her monochromatic, gravity-defying collections have captured the attention of a few discerning fashion lovers, and she is on her way to great things!

PARIS - collette dinnigan
so this is a designer i didn't know much about, and went out on a limb to check out her s10 collection because style.com said it was inspired by my childhood favorite, alice in wonderland.
let's just say the only words i had for this collection were "oh, shit!" because the whole thing is genius. i had an impossible time picking a few favorites to post here because i literally loved every single look.

sheer brilliance!

listening to miike snow
miike snow has become the best soundtrack for scanning through the looks so far this week! i highly recommend you check them out.
with that, i have to say i LOVE
CARLOS MIELE

i'm a sucker for his use ombre, it just looks so ethereal!

not to mention these great color block pieces. i feel the take the whole bandage dress trend to a new, more delicate level.

JEN KAO

these shoes are ridiculous and the styling for this really packed a punch without losing femininity
GARY GRAHAM

doesn't she look like a grown up cher horowitz?
CYNTHIA ROWLEY

i absolutely must have these rectangular sunglasses! and i went crazy for the delicate and elegant asymmetry
PRABAL GURUNG

i love bows and so it was great to see a modern take on them in this collection

a playlist
here is the playlist i've started making to help keep me going while looking through fashion week photos. i can only imagine how draining/FUCKING AWESOME it would be to actually be there!

i'll start posting images and commentary tomorrow in between working on my final projects

fashion week!
as fall draws near (for me at least, it's been in the high 50s low 60s here), fashion week hits! i've hardly processed my favorite looks for the cooler weather and now we're being bombarded by information that we won't actually be able to put into effect in our own wardrobes for months!
not that i'm complaining...
anyway i'll go through some of my favorites as they come through (i'm already falling behind, so overwhelmingg!!)
but so far from what i've seen it's lots of draping (yay!), a fair amount of sheen (yay!), and no one is really ready to give up on the gladiator sandal concept (yay!) although they are being taken to a much more feminine, less metallic level. it also looks like studs and zippers are here to stay for a while too. this is a trend i'm a little bit more apathetic about. i'm not a huge fan of the whole motorcycle culture inspired pieces when not used in moderation, but i have to say that small studs can make a really big statement.
